Alias rectus abdominis, abdominal muscle
ACTION Trunk/Vertebral column:
- Flexion (bilateral);
Origin Xiphoid process of sternum, costal cartilages of ribs 5, 6 and 7
Insertion Pubic crest and pubic symphysis
Innervation Intercostal nerves;

Ventral rami of thoracic spinal nerves.

Nerve Root T7–T12 (T6/7-L1)
Artery inferior epigastric artery
